Sehos management has confidence in the settlement of outstanding debt

WILLEMSTAD - The management of the Sint Elisabeth Hospital (Sehos) is confident that the government will pay the hospital’s outstanding debt.

This is according to financial director Elvis Thode. The board presented their annual report last week, which showed that there is an outstanding debt of 91 million mainly to suppliers.

According to Thode, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sehos Foundation and the government stipulated in 2013 that the outstanding debt would be financed by the government. This in exchange for cooperation during the transition process.

The director emphasizes the importance of paying off the debt for the island: suppliers would have been lenient for years and the new hospital also needs them. Moreover, it would give the wrong signal to the population.
