WILLEMSTAD - The Sint Elisabeth Hospital (SEHOS) is being set up to receive covid patients. This was announced by Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas yesterday during the press conference. The government is in talks with the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) to see how the covid pressure can be reduced so that elective care can resume.
Taking in patients in the old hospital could be a solution. Last week, 34 temporary workers from abroad arrived to help at the hospital. Interns from IFE (nursing school) would also be available to help, but the CMC declined to do so. There would not be enough supervisors available for the students. Later this week, Pisas will also discuss the hospital issue with new State Secretary of Kingdom Relations Alexandra van Huffelen.
