Semper: An average of 100 injections per day in the neighborhoods

WILLEMSTAD - The mobile vaccination teams in the neighborhoods are working hard for every injection. An average of about a hundred injections are given per day per location, says Jerry Semper, medical leader of the vaccination program.

Last Sunday, the project of the mobile vaccination teams officially started in the Steenrijk district. Residents can have themselves injected in the vaccination bus without an appointment.

GPs are always present at all locations to keep an eye on things. But also to provide information and to answer all questions. Semper, who is also a general practitioner, indicates that it is very important that the doctors are there, "not only to observe but also to provide information". “Many people - about one in four - come to the bus to get information on the spot. And they all ask good questions before they eventually want the dose.”

Now half a week later, an average of 100 injections are given per day per location. Today the team evaluates, then more is known about the results, but the team is very happy with the hundred. Semper had "hoped for the triple", but he realizes that that may still be too optimistic.

It is now really sweating for every extra shot, says Semper. And every shot counts. In recent days, the number of registrations has increased only marginally. Yesterday, a total of 78,734 people had registered, only 355 more than the day before.

The vaccination bus is at the church in Tera Kòrá until 4 p.m. today.
