WILLEMSTAD - Poverty reduction is primarily a matter of policy, not legislation. That is what the Social Economic Council says in its latest advice.
This was given on the basis of a private member's bill by the coalition party PAR. He wants to tackle the persistent and growing poverty in Curaçao.
As far as the SER is concerned, Parliament should keep a closer eye on the policy pursued and the implementation based on the coalition agreement. This ensures the creation of more employment, but there is no targeted economic policy.
