Sheltering illegal residents is often unsanitary and punishable by law

Local | By Correspondent May 31, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Providing shelter to illegal aliens or helping others with this is punishable. The national ordinance in which that is stipulated has been in force since 1 May.

Research has shown that a large number of people in the Caribbean are willing to rent apartments, rooms and sometimes even a bed to people who do not have a residence permit.

Usually, the situation is therefore unsanitary or dangerous.

But it is important for anyone who is considering helping illegal aliens with a place to stay to realize that they are acting against the law and can be held accountable.
