Significant compensation awarded to Ennia following liability proceedings

Local | By Correspondent June 7, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The liability proceedings carried out by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) against Ansary on behalf of Ennia have resulted in a compensation amount exceeding 1 billion guilders. This announcement was made by Finance Minister Javier Silvania in a Facebook post.

The future of insurance company Ennia remains uncertain, as it has been revealed that two scenarios are being considered: either bankruptcy or a restart. Silvania's statement came after CBCS announced that further information regarding the Ennia case will not be disclosed until mid-month.

Despite Ansary's attempts to reach arrangements concerning Ennia's future, they have been unsuccessful. The finance minister emphasizes the importance of promptly releasing additional information without unnecessary delays.

The court is expected to deliver a verdict soon, although the previously communicated date for the ruling, which was today, did not materialize.
