Significant fines for violation corona rules for events

Local | By Correspondent November 20, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - If organizers of events and activities do not comply with access controls, there is a hefty fine in return. If this happens again, the fine can be up to 6,000 guilders

The government distinguishes the size of the organization and examines whether it has happened before that the company does not comply with access controls. Small companies pay a lower fine than large companies.

For example, a business with one to five employees pays a fine between 1,500 and 1,750 guilders and a company with more than 25 employees between 5,000 and 6,000 guilders. Three or more violations will result in a summons.

At events or activities with a 'high' risk, visitors must show a QR code. Falsifying or defrauding QR codes is punishable by law. This must be readable to visitors in at least three languages, at least in English and Spanish.

Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas stated during the recent press conference that the government is working on providing a QR code for visitors from countries other than Europe to access Curaçao. He expects this to be introduced in early December.

Fully vaccinated Americans can visit an event or activity in Curaçao by showing three documents, a CDC vaccination certificate, identification, and the Curaçao PLC form.
