WILLEMSTAD - After a relatively quiet period, the number of home burglaries in Curaçao has recently increased again. Especially residents in the neighborhoods Montaña, Cas Grandi, Sta. Rosa and Fuik often turn out to be the victims, reports the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
Partly due to the lockdown and the preventive measures of the KPC, there was a decrease in the figures of domestic burglaries last year. But that positive trend has been negated by the drastic increase now.
The KPC announces that it will come up with a plan of action for the coming months. First, a special investigation team arrives at the Montaña police station. That team will examine the reports of the burglaries and make an inventory of the risk areas.
In addition, extra attention will be paid to preventive measures. The police will discuss this with various neighborhood representatives. “The police must work with citizens to make burglaries less and less attractive,” said KPC.
