Silvania points former Isla employees to tax returns

Local | By Correspondent August 1, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Former employees of the Refineria Isla Curaçao are also called upon to include the income from the redundancy scheme in their tax return. This is emphasized by Minister of Finance Javier Silvania in a statement on Facebook.

According to Silvania, many former employees have only completed the Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU) payroll tax card in their tax returns. CRU is a subsidiary of Refineria di Korsou (RdK) and took over a large part of the staff after the contract was terminated with PdVSA

However, the employees must not only state the income of CRU in their tax return, but also the payroll tax card of Refineria Isla and the payments of the redundancy scheme.

Silvania points out that incorrectly completed declarations lead to unnecessary delays in the inspection process by the inspectorate. To be eligible for a special rate, a declaration form can be submitted to zoekbijzondertarief@gobiernu.cw.
