WILLEMSTAD - A large site inspection at various construction sites, including the new Marriott Courtyard hotel, has also resulted in four judicial raids. The police reported that several arrests were made during the inspections.
These inspections were conducted as part of a criminal investigation by the Division of Organized Crime.
During these checks, several construction workers were found not to have residence permits and work permits. They were detained and taken to the Immigration Department.
Shortly after, under the supervision of a district commissioner and a public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor's Office, four judicial raids were conducted at various locations, including an address in Sunset Heights, two residences, and an office in the Suffisant area.
Various items of interest to the investigation were seized. No arrests were made during the judicial raids. The police have not disclosed the nature of the ongoing investigation.
