WILLEMSTAD - The environmental organization SMOC wants clarity about the new environmental requirements in the event of a restart of the refinery and associated power plant Curaçao Refinery and Utilities (CRU).
The Ministry of Traffic, Transportation and Spatial Planning (VVRP) has not responded to questions from the environmental movement and the Refineria di Korsou (Rdk), the owner of the refinery, says that they will not issue a nuisance permit and therefore cannot answer the questions.
Restart of the Isla is impossible without a nuisance permit for the operator. New stricter standards must apply, as laid down in a policy document of the Ministry of Health.
