WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao has asked the social partners to help with the financial problems of the island. This was done to have more minds thinking about solutions to Curaçao’s problems.
The social partners then asked the Kingdom Council of Ministers, also in view of the special circumstances with which Curaçao is confronted, to give the government more time to focus on socio-economic and financial problems balanced and sustainable solution.
“Herewith we subscribe to the vision and the request of the Government to appeal to article 25, first paragraph Rft and administrative consultation is in order to allow more time to be able to repair the damage caused by the extraordinary events,” said the social partners in their letter to the Kingdom Council of Ministers.
The social partners are also of the opinion that structural reforms are necessary in order to be able to resolve financial and socio-economic issues in a consistent manner. The path to be followed in this regard is to reduce public spending and promote sustainable economic growth to generate higher revenues.
