WILLEMSTAD - In celebration of the work week in which National Maritime Day falls in 2020 (Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 22), the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) – the unified and recognized voice of seaports in the Americas – and much of its hemispheric membership will advance an initiative called Sound Off for National Maritime Day that encourages vessels in each port’s harbor and berths to sound their horns (or whistles) four short times in succession at noon each workday during this week.
As a member of the AAPA, CPA Group will also be part of this great initiative with the sounds of KTK's (Curacao Towage Company) tug boats.

“Sound Off” Initiative Goals
1) To remind those within vessel whistle/horn earshot of the dedication, sacrifice and professionalism of the port industry workforce in their collective efforts to slow the spread of Corona virus while ensuring a steady flow of vital goods and services.
2) To recognize and support the week of National Maritime Day as a salute and tribute to maritime commerce and the ports through which that commerce flows. Ports ensure we’re able to get the goods we need and depend on for everyday living.
3) To increase public awareness of the value and importance of the maritime industry to each nation’s trade, innovation, economy, jobs and quality of life.
