Local | By Press release January 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD — The Servisio pa Obra Públiko (OW) has announced that roadworks will begin on Monday, January 19, 2026, on Commandeursweg. The project is expected to last approximately three weeks.

The works involve the installation of speed bumps along the roadway to reduce vehicle speeds and improve traffic safety in the area. According to OW, the measures are intended to enhance safety for road users and nearby residents.

The contractor responsible for carrying out the works is Aliansa. During the execution of the project, sections of the road will be temporarily closed. However, residents and businesses located in the area will continue to have access to their homes and establishments.

For other motorists who normally use Commandeursweg, alternative routes will be made available and clearly indicated with orange barriers and signage.

Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning Charles Cooper, together with OW, has called on all motorists to exercise extra caution while driving in and around the work zone.
