WILLEMSTAD - The Student Finance Foundation Curaçao, SSC, no longer has any financial reserves. The reason is the greater interest in studying in the region which is costlier then in the Netherlands or locally.
The situation is so dire that SSC has requested an advance on its subsidy of almost 5 million guilders. Due to free education, the budget was reduced from 24 million to 19 million in 2013.
