'Staff shortage threatens justice system'

Local | By Correspondent June 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Council for Law Enforcement (RvR) believes that the shortage of expert personnel endangers the legal system in Curaçao. This is based on the report 'The State of Law Enforcement Curaçao 2021'.

This concerns staff shortages at the Public Prosecution Service, the Curaçao Police Force, the Curaçao National Criminal Investigation Department and the Central Probation Service. Due to this shortage, certain cases cannot or can no longer be investigated.

The RvR also mentions the lack of adequate management within the judicial chain, as a result of which important decisions are not taken.
