WILLEMSTAD - State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen and Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations Hanke Bruins Slot arrived on the island on Thursday afternoon. Earlier this week, Van Huffelen and Bruins visited Sint Maarten and Sint Eustatius.
The working visit focuses on the slavery past, because the two ministers want to see and hear for themselves what the importance and significance of the slavery past are for the islands and for the Netherlands.
On Thursday evening, Van Huffelen and Bruins Slot visited Otrobanda where a meeting was held at the Jopi Hart amphitheater. Artists, writers and musicians were present at the meeting. On Friday, among other things, a visit to a school is on the agenda.
