State Secretary Uslu wants to intensify cooperation with CAS countries in the field of culture and heritage

THE HAGUE - Culture loans such as Qredits, which recently started offering in collaboration with the organization Cultuur+Ondernemen (Culture+Entrepreneurship) on the BES islands, are also available in the CAS countries (Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten), but then the governments must be prepared to allocate a budget for this.

That is what State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science Gunay Uslu wrote to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament in response to the adopted motion by D66 member Jorien Wuite. The MP requested the cabinet to explore the preconditions under which the services of Cultuur+Ondernemen introduced in the Caribbean Netherlands can also be made available to Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten.

“I have heard from Cultuur+Ondernemen that it is possible for them to provide culture loans in collaboration with Qredits to interested parties in Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten. This requires an additional budget of € 1.5 million, based on a term of the loans of four years. This budget is the responsibility of these countries," said the State Secretary.

Uslu promises to contact the governments of the countries to find out if they are interested. “I also want to explore in the coming period how I can intensify cooperation in the field of culture and heritage with these countries.”
