Statements by the General Manager Curaçao Medical Center non-discriminatory

Local | By Correspondent October 9, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - In a meeting of parliament on 27 August this year, a medical specialist stated that the General Director of the Curacao Medical Center expressed himself in a discriminatory way against a certain population group during a meeting earlier this year. The medical specialist who made the statement was not present at those meetings that were held two months earlier (in June). In response to questions that have been raised as a result of those comments in parliament, which have been put forward in a completely different 'setting', the Supervisory Board opened an investigation on 28 August. Various witnesses were heard in that fact-finding investigation.

The result of this factual investigation has led to the conclusion that what has been put forward in parliament has been taken out of context. According to the fact-finding investigation, the CEO did not intend to be discriminatory. The context of Mr. Kedzierski's statements concerned interference with the management of wealthy Arabs - for whom he worked in the Middle East - regarding the operation of a hospital, without knowledge of the facts.

For the sake of completeness, the Supervisory Board and the Board of Management point out that the Curaçao Medical Center will be accessible to everyone without discrimination of religion, belief, political affiliation, race or gender.
