WILLEMSTAD - Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao (STCC) has rescued 28 turtles in the Ascencion Bay during the last few weeks. This bay area is overrun by meters thick Sargassum. Because of the location of the bay and the current, this bay is particularly affected by the seaweed.
20 sea turtles are temporarily taken in at Seaquarium, 8 have been helped by vet Odette Doest and 4 have not survived.
Every day, a team of volunteers goes to the bay with Citro to track down the endangered and protected species.
