Sterilization project Feed Friends and Rescue Paws

Local | By Correspondent May 4, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Feed Friends Foundation (FFF) and Rescue Paws Curacao (RPC) are organizing a sterilization project for dogs in collaboration with the Dutch veterinarian Piet Hellemans. A total of 400 dogs will be spayed or neutered.

The sterilization campaign will run from 15 to 26 May and will take place at the practice of veterinarian Sjoerd de Groot on Alablancaweg. The project aims to reduce the overpopulation of dogs on the island and prevent unwanted puppies.

The campaign is mainly aimed at dog owners who are not well off and who would like to have their dog helped but cannot afford it themselves. There are no costs associated with sterilization for dog owners.

A team of four vets from the Netherlands will get the job done together with vet De Groot. FFF and RPC take care of the organization around it and help with recruiting volunteers, scheduling appointments and operational support on the sterilization days.
