WILLEMSTAD - Steven Martina is in the race to become the leader of current coalition party Partido MAN. It is not really a race, because for the time being, he is the only one who has registered for the position.
Martina was previously Minister of Economic Development for the party but stepped aside because of a criminal investigation. The agreement was that when this would be dismissed, he should become a minister again. This was also agreed with Mrs. Giselle McWilliam, the current Minister of Economic Development. However, the screening is still not complete after three months.
According to Martina, this is independent of his possible leadership of the MAN. The former minister says his party is enthusiastic about his proposal to become a leader.
Martina’s father, Dominico Martina founded the party in the late 1970’s.
