WILLEMSTAD - Last year, the Dutch Animal Aid Foundation carried out 1,452 sterilizations in Curaçao. According to the foundation, more than 11,000 fewer puppies were born.
The sterilizations were carried out on dogs and cats that roam the streets, but also on pets owned by people who cannot afford such an operation themselves.
Dierenhulp has been carrying out the procedures since 2008 and has performed 17,678 sterilizations since the start. According to the foundation, this happens without any form of subsidy from a government or agency.
