WILLEMSTAD - Last year, the Daily Meal Program Foundation provided 43,200 meals for the Fuik and Wishi/Marchena areas. The foundation writes this in its newsletter with annual overview. The pandemic has made poverty on the island more visible. More than 30 percent of the population lives below the poverty line and there is still a lot of hunger.
The foundation relies on donations to continue the relief effort. This year, the foundation will plant vegetable gardens in the neighborhoods to encourage self-sufficiency and solidarity.
