Still no European emergency fund for the Caribbean islands

Local | By Correspondent May 15, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The European Commission has still not established an emergency fund for overseas territories. A resolution to that effect was adopted by the European Parliament on April 17.

Dutch party D66 wanted to use funds for this in the fight against corona in the Caribbean islands, but the motion has still not been executed.

However, it has been decided to financially support islands that are part of the Kingdom in the fight against Covid-19. It is about 10 million euros to be distributed over a total of twelve Caribbean islands.
