AMSTERDAM, WILLEMSTAD - Drug mules are still being arrested during checks on flights from Curaçao to the Netherlands. This is apparent from two recent court rulings in the Netherlands.
In one of the lawsuits, the suspect was sentenced to 14 months in prison. The other case concerned a hearing on appeal in which a sentence of 1 year was imposed, of which 6 months were suspended. The drug couriers are also known as “bolletjesslikkers” because the drugs are hidden in tiny balloons and then swallowed by the smugglers. The drugs are then delivered upon arrival in the Netherlands.
