Stray donkeys cause chaos on the road

Local | By Correspondent November 5, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Free-roaming donkeys caused major problems in the Buena Vista district yesterday. At the beginning of the evening, some donkeys walked up the road at Heintje Kool. One of the animals collided head-on into a car and died. The car was slightly damaged. Then the owners of the donkeys were called in, when they tried to catch the beasts and the donkeys ran away, a chaotic situation on the road ensued where another car hit a donkey. That donkey survived the collision, but the car was badly damaged.

It is not the first time that the stray donkeys cause problems in the neighborhood. A police patrol eventually had to come in to catch the stray donkeys. The owners were then approached by the police to pay for the damage to the cars. However, according to the men, they are not the owners of the animals but are in the process of selling the animals for other people. They, therefore, did not feel called upon to pay for the damage.
