Strong dollar makes Curaçao holidays more expensive

Local | By Correspondent May 19, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Dutch people who want to come on holiday to Curaçao find that it is more expensive. This is due to the exchange rate of the US dollar which has recently risen sharply against the euro. This has advantages, but also disadvantages.

A year ago, you could get about $1.22 for one euro, but now it's only about $1.05. The Antillean guilder is pegged to the dollar. As a result, Dutch tourists who go on holiday to Curaçao receive less guilders for their euros, so traveling becomes more expensive for them.
