WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK), the Curaçao prison, received massive support from the community. Several visitors to the Passionistas Pop-Up Fair, which took place at Marshe Rondo, bought bags and furniture that the detainees had made. The material was also donated to SDKK and several people ordered a custom-made bag.
Passionistas organized a collection campaign for the detainees of SDKK during the Passionistas Pop-Up Fair on 3 February. A group of detainees in prison started last year with a project to make handmade bags from (recycled) material. The community was called to collect jeans, denim fabric, textiles, zippers or yarn for SDKK so that the detainees can continue this project. SDKK received 38 donations and 41 people ordered tailor-made bags. Furthermore, 16 bags and several furniture were sold.
