WILLEMSTAD - The summer vacation lasts only four weeks this year, instead of the usual six weeks. The Ministry of Education has chosen to shorten the long holiday because students missed many school days during the lockdown.
The last day of school falls on Friday, July 9 and the schools will start again on Thursday 12 August. In the old schedule, August 19 would be the first day of school. At least one school board has not received the adjustment and therefore some of the parents have not been informed. For example, some parents have already booked a holiday. In this case, they can discuss this with the school. That says Maghalie van der Bunt-George, general director of the VPCO.
Every year a certain number of school days is laid down by law to which school boards must adhere.
