WILLEMSTAD - The Supervisory Board (SB) of savings and credit cooperative ACU resigned on Friday. ACU confirms this in a press release.
The members of the Supervisory Board have a notice period of three months. According to ACU, the news that the full Supervisory Board has made its position available has been communicated to their clients.
The reason for the departure of Elsirha Isenia-Scope (chairman), Jacqueline Drenthe - Marten (vice-chairman) and David Brug (secretary) is a difference in vision. The Supervisory Board clashes with the ACU management. The supervisors mainly complain about the cooperative's spending. According to them, these are not in the interest of savers. That is why they will stop their work as of June 4.
According to ACU, the departure of the Supervisory Board has no consequences for the day-to-day running of the cooperative. Next Sunday, the letter of resignation from the Supervisory Board will be discussed in the general meeting of the ACU. The amendment of ACU's articles of association will also be discussed.
In June 2020, the central bank temporarily appointed two trustees within ACU to accelerate the implementation of the new management model. Thomas Domhoff and Alta Poulina assist the board. According to the central bank, given their experience and expertise, they could also assist the ACU board in other business economic areas if necessary.
In order to participate in the general members' meeting, savers must first register. This can be done via the ACU website. With almost 30,000 members, ACU is the largest savings and credit cooperative in Curaçao.
