WILLEMSTAD - The Jobseeker Support Center can soon be launched if the budget for the project has been approved by the Ministry of Finance. This support point will primarily be a safety net for people who are victims of collective redundancy or collective loss of work.
The focal point is cooperation between the ministries of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW), General Affairs (AZ) and Economic Development (MEO), with financial or personnel support from all ministries. SOAW has contracted a foundation for this, Fundashon Portanan pa Trabou (Stichting Arbeidsparticipatie Curaçao).
1.2 to 1.4 million guilders is budgeted for the project. This money is partly to compensate for the services provided by the foundation, but also for the possible deployment of external professionals if people really need it, such as a psychologist and for a communication plan. The money must be raised further by the various ministries, as stated by SOAW minister Hensley Koeiman.
