WILLEMSTAD - Due to competition in aviation, Curaçao, but also Aruba, is becoming increasingly attractive for Surinamese to visit the islands for a holiday. That is according to Janine de Windt of the Curaçao Tourist Office CTB says to the Surinamese news site Unitednews.sr.

According to the CTB, the number of tourists from Suriname is growing as a result of the arrival of JetAir, which has been flying to Paramaribo with competitive prices since February. The wide range of AirBnB offers also help.
Curaçao is targeting 375,000 tourists this year, considerably less than before corona when more than 460,000 tourists visited the island. The CTB hopes to exceed this number by 2023, with a forecast of nearly 490,000 visitors on the island. In 2024, that number itself should grow to more than 550,000.
