WILLEMSTAD - Professional entities should be given more powers to intervene in cases of suspected abuse. This is according to the Member of Parliament for the coalition party MFK Maria Nita says.
There are victims who are in a vulnerable situation, where it is difficult to find the courage to report this, according to Nita. It also happens that the victim is not aware of being a victim of abuse due to mental or physical limitations.
Nita wants the number of checks by professionals at authorities to be expanded. The coalition MP also wants professionals who need assistance with, for example, reporting suspected abuse or filing a report to be assisted by a department.
This should not only take place with clients and patients, but also in schools, kindergarten and out-of-school care. Neglect by parents should also be included in the plan.
