WILLEMSTAD - The Social Insurance Bank of Curaçao (SVB) will fully compensate retirees outside Curaçao.
On January 1, 2017, the SVB had applied a reduction of ten percent to the pension benefits of people who no longer lived in Curaçao on that date. Their Christmas bonus also expired from 2016, amounting to a full month of General Old Age Pension (AOV).
The judge had already ordered full compensation, but initially SVB-Curaçao announced that it would not comply with the Court's decision.
All AOV pensioners on Bonaire, St. Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius, who still receive a pension from the SVB, will now get their money back with retroactive effect.
