WILLEMSTAD - On Wednesday, 26 November, Minister Middelhof held a productive meeting with Julius Liljeström, the Ambassador of Sweden, to discuss shared ambitions in sustainability, innovation and the development of Curaçao.
Although Sweden and Curaçao are geographically distant, both countries share a similar vision for the future: a strong economy driven by green growth, renewable energy and smart solutions suitable for small island communities.
The meeting covered opportunities in several key areas, including the energy transition, the circular economy, sustainable tourism and knowledge exchange between island societies. According to the minister, the similarities between both countries — particularly in how they manage limited space, natural resources and climate challenges — create a solid foundation for deeper cooperation.
Minister Middelhof expressed eagerness to strengthen the relationship further and jointly develop new opportunities for sustainable development and economic progress in Curaçao.
