WILLEMSTAD - A successful symposium on migration policy for the Caribbean countries of the Dutch Kingdom was organized by the Social Economic Councils of Curaçao, Aruba and of Sint Maarten. An initiative of the Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath of Curaçao.
During the 2-day event at the Avila Beach Hotel in Curaçao policy-makers and implementing staff from different ministries from the governments of the 3 countries, representatives from employers’ and employees’ organizations, members of the Social-Economic Councils, NGOs, politicians, universities, and migrants, together, explored policy options with respect to the question:
‘How to optimize the benefits and minimize the costs of labor migration in relation to sustainable socioeconomic development of the three countries?’
