WILLEMSTAD - Vidanova Bank will be temporarily unable to conduct dollar transactions as of January 13. The reason for this is the cancellation by Reserve Trust of the 'correspondent bank' relationship. According to the bank, this was 'very unexpected'. Vidanova bank customers were informed of this on Friday.
In that announcement, Vidanova Bank states that this is an unexpected situation over which the bank itself has absolutely no control. Vidanova Bank understands that this situation is hurting its customers and promises to do everything it can to find an adequate solution as soon as possible.
The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), as a supervisory authority, has also been informed of this totally unforeseen turn of events, according to the bank.
Regarding the outgoing dollar transactions, Vidanova Bank expects to have a solution as early as next week.
The onboarding process with a new correspondent bank, so that all dollar transactions (inbound and outbound) can be delivered as normal again, has been going on for some time and will hopefully be completed soon.
As far as transactions in other foreign currencies are concerned, nothing has changed, adds Vidanova Bank.
