WILLEMSTAD - The current parliament building is bursting at the seams. That is why a new parliament building must be constructed. Tomorrow the Members of Parliament will consider the establishment of the temporary committee on new construction of this building.
This committee is charged with investigating and mapping all possible scenarios, including financing. The committee will consist of a chairman and six members. The committee must come up with a proposal within two years.
There is currently a shortage of workspaces for the clerk's staff. That is why parliament rent a few offices for the registry. This brings shortcomings. Not all buildings have the same facilities and security level. The current parliament hall does not meet all the conditions either. In addition, a centralized building should lead to savings.
