WILLEMSTAD - On November 1, it was exactly ten years ago that tropical storm Thomás raged past Curaçao and in some places more rain fell in one night than in a whole year on the island.

The island's drainage system failed to handle a large amount of water. As a result, entire neighborhoods were flooded.
Although the meteorological service had warned of heavy rain, the amount of rainfall was exceptional. One person has lost his life during this storm.
