WILLEMSTAD - Representatives of the trade unions ABVO and CBV went to the headquarters of the ambulance service on Monday to express their dissatisfaction. The ambulance staff disagrees with the new work system.
The change of shifts happened earlier at the ambulance post on Bandabou. With the new system, the change takes place at the ambulance post at the GGD in Zakito. As a result, there is no ambulance in the most western side of the island for 2 to 3 hours.
According to the unions, several attempts have been made to solve the problem. They state that sufficient ambulances and personnel must be available at the posts at all times.
Management previously reported that a committee would be formed to evaluate the situation. The ambulance staff received a letter on Monday announcing that the new exchange system will be used from Tuesday, without a committee having considered this.
