The 52nd Assembly of ALIDE culminated with the Declaration of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - During the closing of the event, the ALIDE 2022 Awards were presented and the Bank of the Year was recognized. 

The 52nd General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Financial Institutions for Development (ALIDE), held in Curaçao with the support of the Curaçao Development Corporation (Korpodeko), ended after four days. 

 

The closing included the words of the president of ALIDE, Carlos Linares, who thanked the reception in Curaçao and the presence of the national authorities in the Assembly. Likewise, he highlighted the organization of Korpodeko and all the collaborators that allowed the event to end successfully. 

 

In addition, the closure included the reading of the Declaration of Curaçao, a document that summarizes the commitments that ALIDE and its members assumed after the Assembly, to focus their work on the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (ALC). 

The Curaçao Declaration highlighted the importance of integrating the Caribbean region into the Latin American region. In addition, he stressed how essential cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experiences are in financing sustainable development projects and the fight against poverty and inequality. 

 

It should be noted that the document also recognized the value of the agricultural sector during the pandemic and presented technological and social resilience as a necessary capacity in ALC, since as a system and a community it is relevant to learn to withstand and recover from disasters and extreme disturbances. 

 

In this sense, ALIDE is committed to promoting the creation of a digital ecosystem and supporting innovation and technological development among its members and all development banking institutions interested in applying best practices in their actions.  

 

ALIDE Awards  

 

The ALIDE 2022 Awards, the contest that recognizes and promotes innovation and good practices among development financial institutions, were awarded to ten institutions from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica and India.  

The winners were: Banco do Nordeste (Brazil) for the “Student Financing – FNE P-FIES” initiative, Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal (Mexico) for the program “Guarantía de Paso y Medida (GPM)”, Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior (BICE) with the Environmental and Social Risk Management System (Saras) and the Bank of the Nation of Argentina for the project “Innovation for financial inclusion: Development and innovation in App BNA+”. 

 

In addition, Inficaldas and Infivalle were awarded for the projects "INFICALDAS Reciprocity Policy" and "Strategy for local economic development in the north of Valle del Cauca", Banobras stood out for the "Digital Tools for Sustainable Infrastructure" initiative, the National Bank of Costa Rica for the “Women 360 Program of BN Mujer” and the Fideicomisos Instituidos en Relación con la Agricultura (FIRA) for the “Issuance of Social Gender Bonds (BSG)”. 

 

The ALIDE Extra-regional Banks award was given to the “Rising Stars Program (Ubharte Sitare)” of the India Exim Bank, focused on helping units with export potential to expand their operations, product basket and target new markets. 

 

Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG) was also recognized as Bank of the Year and Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires for celebrating 200 years of history and being a pioneer of the Argentina financial system.
