WILLEMSTAD - Last week, the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) treated its first patient in the Cath lab. With the cardiac laboratory and cardiac catheterization service (Cathlab), Curaçao is now one of the few countries in the region where this type of medical-technical treatment is performed.

In the Cathlab, various examinations and treatments can now take place that were previously not possible in Curaçao. The diagnostic imaging equipment is used to visualize the arteries and the heart and to identify and correct potential defects. Furthermore, it is now also possible to repair heart valves and implant pacemakers in patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
