WILLEMSTAD - The court will rule on Friday, November 6, on the early release of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte. The appeal to release Schotte early, was filed yesterday. However, this would go against the prison's decision.
Schotte's lawyer is of the opinion that the prison Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Korsou (SDKK) does not correctly handle the distribution of the monitoring ankle bracelets. As a result, Schotte would have missed out on previous opportunities to be released early.
Schotte should be released immediately, according to the lawyer. The application for parole will therefore be handled by the court next Friday.
