WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao ex-police officer Mariens Mariano fears for his life if he is transferred to Curaçao. This is according to the Dutch news site crimesite.nl. Mariano was recently arrested in the Netherlands for his involvement in the 2018 drug robbery.
Then 600 kilograms of seized cocaine was stolen from the Rio Canario police station. Mariano's lawyer says that his client in Curaçao is not sure of his life, due to the interdependence of the police force with the cocaine mafia.
He therefore requested the Public Prosecution Service to transfer the case to the Netherlands and to have the National Criminal Investigation Department investigate the case.
