The government announces new set-up for food aid

Local | By Correspondent April 27, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Recently Minister Hensley Koeiman of Social Development, Labor and Welfare clarified the new form in which food aid will take place on the island.

Dutch financial support first went to the Red Cross. As of May 1, 2021, this will be converted into structural support via the government.

With that, the Red Cross will stop providing food aid. Koeiman will announce soon what the food aid will look like starting on May 1.

"We are now in the final phase of the agreement to arrive at a protocol," said Koeiman. The Food Bank, which had been responsible for the distribution of food aid for some time, also dropped out of the process last year.
