WILLEMSTAD - The new station ship of the Navy arrives today in the port of Curaçao. The Zr.Ms. Groningen takes over the duties of the Zeeland.
Station ships normally stay in the Caribbean for four months, but the Groningen is scheduled to stay in the Caribbean for two years. The crew is then replaced instead of the ship.
The Groningen sails around 3.30 pm past Bastion Marichi, also known as Fort Krommelijn. A salute is given to the kingdom flag at this time.
