WILLEMSTAD - It is now 4 years ago that “Stichting Help de Schoolkinderen of Curaçao” (Help the School Children) was founded.
The Foundation was established with the aim of providing the school children with proper teaching materials and a pleasant learning environment, so that they can work on their future in a positive way and motivated, which also benefits the future of the island.
After 4 years, the Foundation looks back with pride at what has been achieved. They are now 73, mainly 40 feet containers further, and have thus saved the island more than 11 million in expenses! This anniversary cannot just be ignored.
Considering the measures regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided to give away teaching materials and library books through a “Drive Thru”, which have been saved over time.
However, all this would not be possible without the necessary partners and sponsors, whom the Foundation is particularly grateful for their tremendous contribution to the whole.
To name a few: The schools in the Netherlands that know where to find us and offer their materials for the schools on Curaçao. Carib Intertrans in the Netherlands, which ensures that all transport within the Netherlands and to Curaçao runs smoothly and at cost price! The Foundation also wishes to express its gratitude for the free use of the warehouse in the Netherlands. AMC Bolt Services in Curaçao, which receives the containers here for unloading, which also makes their warehouse available to the Foundation without any obligation and where the Foundation can always count on help and advise and assist. The sponsors on Curaçao who made it possible for the teaching materials to be transferred to the containers with furniture in the past year, which turned out to be a real ordeal: Stichting Samen Doen, Adama Fahrenheit and Fundashon pa yuda Fundashon.
The Foundation also thanks all sponsors who have made it possible to make the Drive Thru a reality.
26 Schools have been made happy with 353 boxes of school materials and the Foundation is not there yet. The foundation was also assisted in the awarding process by again many volunteers, including members of the Rotary Club, employees of MCB Bank, Judokas from Janwé, young people associated with Funditut, family members and friends, making this a great success.
The Foundation believes in cooperation, they believe in opening doors for the benefit of the child and that has now proved possible again. The Foundation would like to express its gratitude to everyone who has believed in it and who have put their trust in it. The Foundation is proud to announce that they have once again been able to assist the schools in Curaçao and that gives everyone hope for the future!
