THE HAGUE - The Netherlands and Curaçao have agreed to the amendment of the Tax Regulation Netherlands Curaçao. The scheme has been in existence since December 1, 2015 and prevents taxpayers from having to pay tax in both countries. It also prevents tax avoidance and evasion.
Due to significant developments in the field of tax avoidance after 2015, both countries have agreed to amend the scheme to implement these developments.
The amendments to the regime include, inter alia, the measures concluded in the relevant reports are necessary to adequately combat treaty abuse and to improve dispute settlement. These are so-called minimum standards.
The Dutch State Secretary for Finance will submit the proposal to the Advisory Division of the Council of State of the Kingdom.
