WILLEMSTAD - There is still much uncertainty about the new excise duties. Arie Pieter Imhoff of the wine merchant Servir Frais says so. Although it had been known for some time that the excise duties on beer and spirits would be increased. Imhoff says that it was only announced on Saturday that the excise duties on wine would also be increased.
Imhoff explains that this results in at least three guilders more in excise duty per bottle and that this also adds to the increased import costs. In the coming period it should become clear how much a bottle will cost and how the hospitality industry will then settle this extra guilder to the customer.
